Be aware of what can happen when you dont get an annual
Mammogram / Screening.

In 2022, Leslie celebrated 10 years of being breast cancer-free. A year later, over 70 tumors were found in her lungs. She had never been offered annual mammograms or screening, despite the possibility of recurrence. Leslie recently passed away from stage IV breast cancer complications. Petition starter Carolyn is calling for legislation in Leslie’s memory that would require doctors to order annual mammograms and screenings to protect breast cancer survivors, and help catch recurrence early. If you agree, sign Carolyn’s petition now.

Women in general have a 1 in 8 or 12.5% chance of getting Breast Cancer. Once age 40 Doctor’s recommend an annual Mammogram. Breast Cancer warriors have a 6% chance of reoccurrence after a Mastectomy and are NOT offered annual mammograms or ANY annual Diagnostic Screenings.

Experts say no mammogram is necessary because no breast tissue is left, YET Breast Cancer Survivors have a 6% chance of reoccurrence!!!!  I am one of the 6% that had a reoccurrence. May 2014 I had a bi-lateral double mastectomy and October 2021 I had a reoccurrence.

Leslie had a bi-lateral double Mastectomy in the Fall of 2012. In 2013 she was pronounced cancer-free. In September 2022 she celebrated 10 years of being cancer free. October 2023 she had a cough that would not go away and an X-ray showed over 70 tumors in her lungs. It had already progressed to her bones, too.  Leslie recently passed away from stage IV Breast Cancer Complications. Please support Leslie’s Law and don’t let us lose another breast cancer survivor because of lack of screening offered to survivors.

Like many other survivors we both were not offered annual Mammograms & screening because we both had a double mastectomy, yet we both had a reoccurrence!

Please support LESLIE’S LAW and sign this petition. Leslie’s Law would require Doctors to order Annual Bi-lateral Diagnostic Ultrasounds for Breast Cancer Survivors that have had either a single or double Mastectomy and insurance would be required to pay for the annual ultrasound.

Until this is accepted into Law please pass this information along and encourage Breast Cancer Survivors to demand Annual Bi-lateral Diagnostic Ultrasounds. If the Doctor will not provide an order, keep searching until you find a Doctor that will!
